Sydney is arguably the food capital of Australia. Everyone here seems to enjoy their food, and go out in droves over the weekend to some of the best restaurants in the country. So it comes as no surprise that you will find many catering companies in Sydney.
But with such a smorgasbord of catering companies sprouting up like mushrooms – and each claiming to be the best – how do you separate the chaff from the wheat? How do you know which ones will help you organize the party of the year and which one might not even show up during your event? According to one of our friends in the Restaurant and Catering Association of Australia, the latter actually does happen more than you would expect.
If you have ever tried organizing your own party or event before, you know how stressful it can be. It then becomes important that you know which catering companies to put your trust in.
We have prepared a quick guide that will help you pick a great catering company in Sydney, regardless if you are preparing for a grand wedding or a small birthday party.
Contact the Catering Company Early
We know that you like to keep things to the last minute, but that is really not a good idea when booking a catering company. The best catering companies in Sydney are always in high demand, so it’s quite likely that they will not be available if you book them late. The last thing you want to happen is to spend weeks finding that caterer that serves cold finger food that you love only to discover that they are overbooked for your event date.
You should also note that the more organized caterers will usually prepare for your party weeks in advance.
Find Out What Their Specialty Is
You might think a caterer would be able to provide you with any type of food you want, but every caterer usually specializes in a particular type of event. Check with their catering consultants about which types of events they are good at, or which ones they have the most experience in.
Look at Their Menu
This might seem obvious, but you should definitely get a close look at their menu to determine if it suits both your tastes and those of your guests. For example, what if you need to serve vegetarian food? Is their selection good enough?
Get an All-Inclusive Quote
It is important that you find out what is and what is not included in the quote given to you by your caterer. Some customers get quite annoyed when they discover that the catering quotation did not include items such as taxes and service charges. Always double-check this with your caterer.
Ask Your Friends and Families
A great way for you to find out if a particular caterer is reliable is to ask your friends and family. It is quite likely that they would have been in the same predicament before and have their own shortlist of go-to caterers. Of course, you still have to ensure that the caterers they recommend are suited for your particular needs.
Choosing a catering company in Sydney need not be a complicated thing if you know what you are doing. We hope we have helped you in that regard.
